What if this is our chance to be amazing? What if it’s our opportunity to shine? Reading through the gospels I constantly see that people were amazed at Jesus. They are amazed at his knowledge and wisdom. They are amazed at his power and authority. People were constantly surprised, amazed at Jesus. On the other hand, there are only a few times when we’re told Jesus was amazed at people. Most of the time he is amazed at their lack of faith, their stubborn hearts, or failure to grasp what is right in front of them. But there is one incident where Jesus is pleasantly surprised. He is amazed at the faith he finds in a Roman centurion. As we move toward Easter and remember Jesus last trip to Jerusalem, we’re reminded that God still looks for fruit in our lives. He looks for that surprising kind of faith that shines in the darkest circumstances. May we all amaze God by producing the fruit of faith out of season.
