Key verse: “Be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2)

The focus this week is on giving patience. Max Lucado titles this chapter “Don’t pet the peeves.” All of us have pet peeves. There are triggers that others can hit that set us off. Successful lives … friendships … organizations … even the journey of faith … require countless gifts of grace through patience. Joy (happiness) is such valuable commodity, why do we squander it on something as trivial as our pet peeves? The Bible calls us to be long tempered. We are to make allowance for others’ fault and failings … just as God has done for us. We’ll look at what it means and takes to give the gift of patience to others. We’ll look at how this act redounds to our own benefit, just as God intended. Our challenge will be to consciously, intentionally give patience to specific people over the next week.
