Most of us have experienced what its like when someone comes alongside and helps you. Jesus modelled the quality of servanthood for his disciples. “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28, also Mark 10:45) “… but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” (Philippians 2:7) This sermon is pretty simple, actually. This is our Master. This is our Teacher. Our goal is to become like Him; to see him formed in us. That can’t happen without me becoming a servant. And the more we mirror Him the happier we’ll be. That’s all this sermon is about.
